What if a “Once in a Lifetime” could happen twice?

In Dahlia London’s world, happily ever after is a far cry from reality. Her soul has been left completely shattered by tragedy. But a surprising reunion with someone from her past is about to give her a reason to love again…

When rock star River Wilde comes back into Dahlia’s life, their super-charged connection runs deeper than either of them ever expected. The more time they spend together, the more intense their relationship becomes, and Dahlia believes at last she has found her soul mate.

But as old bonds fade and Dahlia’s grief begins to lift, her guilt and confusion remain. River desperately wants to be the one who mends what’s been broken—but with a past that refuses to stay buried, is it possible for their future to begin?

=============================================

This is the 1st book I have read by Kim Kerr.  I really liked the book but I did not find myself super eager or antsy to get back to it once I put it down.  Usually when a book sticks with me it is playing over and over in my head of what could happen next until I get back to it.  Like a movie I had to stop in the middle of and have not finished.  This book did not do that for me.

It was a decent story about a young couple who have been together since high school.  They were each others first loves & first everything really.  They go to the same college and one Halloween night the girl Dahlia meets a guy in a bar when she is hanging out with her friend Aerie.  Dahlia is drawn to River and she can't explain the connection.  She knows it is wrong to want this man because she has Ben whom she has known her whole life, is her best friend, her lover & she loves very much but she still wants River.  So Dahlia does what she knows she has to.  She leaves and runs from those feelings she has for River. Poor River does not even know her name because she never told him.

Dahlia & Ben have a good life.  Ben is a reporter and Dahlia works with her friend Aerie.

Ben is being given an award and as they are in route to attend the award ceremony but Ben is suddenly ripped from her life.  Dahlia is devastated.  It takes her 2 years to get her life back together and on track and now she has a new assignment from Aerie who wants her to get out into the real world again.  This 1st assignment is to interview River Wilde.  Dahlia is nervous and excited at the same time to see River again.  She is not sure what to expect from this meeting.  Dahlia is not even sure that River will remember her.  I mean really he has a million fans waiting to fall at his feet, why would he remember her.

The one day interview turns into a weekend getaway, then a week and more.  River and Dahlia do not want to be apart ever.  Their love & connection for each other was sudden but it seems like it has been there since there meeting at the bar 5 years ago.

Everything seems to be moving right along for the couple.  They are completely happy and in love.  Then something unexpected happens & Dahlia ends up in the hospital.
Then the book flashes to Ben's journal.  Ben always keeps one, he writes down everything.  This is where the story gets confusing and it is about 95% into the story.  This cliffhanger will lead into the next book in the series "Torn" which I will be reading and reviewing next for you.
I am hoping that the 2nd book will grab me a bit more & keep my attention.

Happy Reading.
