~ Kira Sutherland ~

After a near fatal accident (and getting cheated on by her 'boyfriend'), and beating up the lead cheerleader (with whom the boyfriend cheated...), and being labeled as having 'issues' in her school because she, uhm, sees ghosts, Kira is left with two choices:

1. Continue her 'therapy' (where she's told the ghost is a hallucination and also gets her legs ogled too often...)

Or

2. Go to Starkfield Academy, a boarding school for "Crazies and Convicts" (as the social media sites call them.)

She chooses the latter...

~ Cory Rand ~

Cory Rand has not had an easy life. His mother died in a car accident when he was twelve, and so did his mother's best friend...sort of. You see, Janice made a promise to take care of Cory just before she died, and so she lingers. Undead. A ghost that watches out for him.

Brought up in an abusive home, Cory quickly falls into a life of disreputable behavior. After his third offense (which was prompted by a girl, as usual - he has a weakness) he's left with two choices:

1. Be tried as an adult and share a cell with a guy named Bubba (he thinks...)

Or

2. Go to Starkfield Academy, which Cory is pretty sure is run by vampires. But, hey, at least he'll get an education.

He chooses the latter...

It's at Starkfield that Kira meets Cory Rand, a boy with an insatiable Rage who sees ghosts, too. As well as other things, other things from his past, things that confuse him, things like fire and witches and demons.
Things he's always ignored.

Until now.

Kira & Cory

I’m not really sure how to explain this book. It is interesting. Contains Demons, Ghosts, Vampires, Witches, Psychic abilities.  The storyline is basically Kira & Cory have lived several lives before and have been reincarnated. They always seem to find one another, perhaps they are soul mates. Kira from what I can understand is a powerful witch and Cory has rage inside him and the ability to see spirits like Kira.

There is a war between witches and demons. They used to work together but now they are against each other for something that happened in past lives. From what I could gather the leader of the Demons was in love with Kira centuries ago. Kira asked for Cory to be brought into the circle (her true love) and thus the Demon leader felt betrayed.

I found this story to be very difficult to follow. There were a lot of back story flashbacks and I got very lost. The names made it even more difficult for me to keep up with who is who. There were the past lives characters and the present lives characters as well as the demons names that were very difficult to understand. I have a really difficult time with past, present, future tenses within a storyline and find them to always be difficult to follow. If you do not have these same issues then I am sure you will follow the story just fine.

The main characters Kira & Cory are on the losing side of the War. Every lifetime they lose the war and Kira is killed. This time they are in a school with other STRANGE teenagers like themselves. Kira's past lives COVEN for a lack of a better word. They suspect Vampires are at the school but are not positive. The people in charge of the school are very important to the WAR. Kira must invoke  war and relay it to the OTHERSIDE.

The author did a very good job with editing and having very little grammar issues. I just don’t think this story was for me and I unfortunately did not follow enough of it to not feel lost for the majority of the reading experience.
