Storm’s younger cousin.
Vandal’s little brother.
You’ve met him in the background.
The sweet one.
The nice one.
The one they can all rely on.
The good one.
He’s a tattoo artist. He plays metal and classical music - on the violin.
He’s got a body built for sin.
He’s 24.
In comes Ivy. She’s a 36 year old single mom who hasn’t dated in 18 years.
All she wanted was a tattoo.
She got a helluva lot more :)
Being good has never been so bad.

Ivy is 37 HR Manager with 2 kids (Macy 18 and Tommy 7) she has been married for 18 years.

Lukas is a 24 years old tattoo artist with a heart of gold. He can play the violin beautifully and likes antiques. He has abandonment issues and his past is not super pretty.

Ivy decides its time to do things that she always wanted to do but her cheating husband would not let her. She goes and gets a tattoo. Meeting Lukas changed her and everyone's life. He is a beautiful force. He is loyal, loving, brilliant, talented and treats her like a princess.

Lukas & Ivy upon meeting were instantly attracted to one another. Ivy has a huge problem with the age factor. But after spending some time with Lukas, she understands that he is not your average 24 year old he is a man and has been very responsible and reliable most of his life.

Ivy's EX-husband is not happy that she has gotten the attention of a younger man and sets out to destroy the couple. I mean why is she allowed to be happy without him, right (such an ass).

After some convincing on Lukas part to give him a chance to prove himself the couple faces a huge obstacle. With some time to think over the incident they figure out how to move forward. Lukas has a huge favor to ask of Ivy and it will mean their future will happen together or they will have to part ways.

I like the partnership of Ivy and Lukas and thought they fit well together. There age was not a factor for me in this story. They were a great couple and made since. Macy is a little brat but you still like her in the end.

Book Review: Vandal by Carian Cole

Ashes and Embers - Book #2

Kindle Edition, 313 Pages

** Please note - this book was re-edited in March of 2016 and the ending was given more depth and clarification. Thank you!

She takes my breath away; she is so beautifully damaged.
Yes I had broken her, ravished her life, destroyed her happiness. I brought her to ultimate despair. I was responsible for all the pain and suffering that now brought her to her knees in front of me.

Reckless in her agony.

She is a mirror of my own tortured soul.

But what I took away I can give back.
In ways she cannot even begin to imagine.
She is everything right in all my wrongs.

She loves me. She needs me.

She has no idea I’m the one who wrecked her life.

** Vandal is a dark romance with light BDSM. He is emotionally damaged and manipulative, but still wants love. This book deals with death, grief, deception, substance abuse, depression, and graphic sex. If this is not your thing, you can skip this book and move onto the next in the series and you will not be lost. Vandal is not the sweetheart that the other guys in Ashes & Embers are - but even the dark and damaged deserve to be loved, right? **

Vandal & Tabitha

Tabitha’s husband was killed in a horrible car accident. Vandal lost his friend and child in the same accident. An accident that he caused by falling asleep.

Now Vandal sees Tabitha as sad and wants to help her find the happiness he sees she had before the accident happened. Vandal asks Tabi to go with him a perfect stranger to a random house. She has nothing to lose so she goes. A bit on the suicidal side she figures he might kill her and leave her body somewhere. She does not care at this point, there is no reason to live without her husband.

Vandal knows who Tabi is but does not reveal who he is. The secret is kept while they basically fall for each other.

Tabi has a secret that is revealed at the end of the book and I won’t SPOIL it but I did not like that Tabi’s secret was never revealed.

I found the relationship very one sided. I feel that Vandal’s character needs Tabi a lot more than Tabi needs Vandal. The little bit of Dom/Sub was touched on but not really explored. Vandal needs control and Tabi wants to let go and not worry about anything. This relationship works because of that.

When Vandal’s identity is revealed to Tabi she has to find the strength to figure out how important Vandal is to her. Tabi needs to see her husband’s death as sad as it was as a new beginning for her life. A life with Vandal.
