Goodreads | Kindle/Amazon

Fresh off tour Blake Potter, the sexy bassist for Battlescars, is in Smithville, Ohio to work on their next album ‘Coming Clean’. Still pining after Aubrey’s best friend, Piper, it’s going to be harder than he expected to see her back with her long-‐ term boyfriend, Cole. He’s trying his hardest to forget her, but not matter how hard he tries to stay away circumstances keep bringing them together. Being burned before, he refuses to let it happen again. He’s still struggling to let go of Rowan, the girl that made him the way he is.

Piper is fighting an uphill battle of her own. She’s working her ass off trying to make a name for herself as a tattoo artist. Her long-‐term boyfriend, Cole, was recently discharged from the Marines turning her world in a way that she never expected. When he begins leaving for days at a time Piper starts struggling to help him pick up the pieces. She calls the one person that might be able to help, Blake. He becomes the friend that she needs no matter how much it’s killing him.

What will happen when one phone call changes everything for both of them leading them in a path that neither anticipated? Pasts will come out of the shadows and threaten to ruin everything.
Piper and Blake

Piper and Blake had a friends and it became a fling. Piper being on again off again with her high school boyfriend Cole called it what it was, a FLING.

Cole joined the Marines and was discharged not to long ago. Suffering from PTSD and self medicating things get bad for the couple.

As Piper struggles with her feelings for Blake she tries to stay focused on Cole and her relationship. Doing her best to make it work. Piper knows it's not Coles fault that he changed.  Things with Cole change after a major slap in the face for him and Piper has to serious choice to make. One that will be life changing.

Blake wants Piper happy even if it is with Cole. That would devastate him but as long as she is happy it will not matter.

So Piper is stupid for staying with Cole and putting up with his attitude. He is a bomb really to detonate. Blake is patient and sweet and you of course want him to win the girl. You understand Piper's reluctance to throw away a 8 year relationship but see Cole treats her like crap. We don't get any flashbacks of what Cole was like before the Marines so to be honest we don't really know if he was always an ass. Blake's past is right there for us to see and you can see the character change for the better and try to be a better person to be who Piper needs.

Aubrey Thompson is a twenty-three year old flight attendant for her dad’s small commercial fleet. She’s a sarcastic smartass that has no problem telling you where to go. She also despises rock stars…but that’s all part of the story. Her Granny Jean is spy and will have you laughing out loud.

In comes Jake Parker, the twenty-five year old lead singer of Battlescars. His reputation is the untamable bad-boy. He’s completely “balls to the wall” in everything that he does. Two days after returning home from a month long tour across Europe he gets a visit from Bruce, an executive from the record label. He informs Jake that Battlescars is going back on tour for three months. What everyone doesn’t know is that Jake is worn down and sick of the same old shit.

His record label hires Aubrey’s dads company to fly him around for the last minute tour. In order to keep her dad's company afloat they will have to learn to play nice. When Jake first meets Aubrey she refuses to even acknowledge his existence. He sees her as refreshing and a challenge.

Both of them have some pretty heavy scars from their pasts holding them back. Can Jake get Aubrey to let him in? Or will she shoot him down based on his outlandish reputation? Will her fear of getting hurt again keep him out for good?

Are the two of them a match in heaven or hell?

Jake and Aubrey

Aubrey is a feisty stewardess working for her dad's private company, from Ohio originally. She is dedicated, loyal and does not take crap.

Jake is the lead singer for Battlescars. He was a pary boy with a string of one night stands, drinking and partying all hours of the night. But he decided 1 year ago to give all that up to be a better person. He wanted more out of life than a party.

Aubrey's dad needs her to fly around with Jake and his bodyguard Brett for a 3 month stint. She is not happy. Aubrey has been working non stop and just want to be home in her own bed to rest. Aubrey knows she has to do this to help the company stay afloat. They need some new clients, an entire band would be great income.

She puts Jake in his place day one and Jake is immediately smitten. Jake has his work cut out for him to win Aubrey's trust and heart. Aubrey has been hurt in her one and only relationship and trusts no one. She cannot be touched without flinching and freaking out, she does not date and never plans too.

Jake expresses his feeling sof LIKE to Aubrey and how he wants to be friends. Aubrey is skeptical. Jake says he is not what they portray him to be in the press and he changed the path he was on. Jake wants Aubrey to give friendship a chance. Aubrey decides a friendship would be good since they will be stuck together for at least 3 months.

Aubrey is confused when Jake touches her to catch her when she almost falls and her reaction is not to pull away. This is new territory for Aubrey and she decides to push her boundaries to see the extent of this new crazy friendship. Jake tells Aubrey they are friends for now but he wants her to be his girlfriend and he is willing to wait as long as it takes for her to trust him and make that happen.

Some grammatical errors but not too bad. The characters are fun. Jake is sweet. caring, loving and model hot. Aubrey is feisty, quick witted, stubborn, loyal, guarded and sweet.

Together the couple are opposites that fit perfectly together. Good story line that I'm sure you have seen a million times before nothing new with that.

Book Review: Treacherous by Chloe Walsh

(Carter Kids/Twisted Youth - Book #1)
by Chloe Walsh
Kindle Edition: 319 Pages

Goodreads | Amazon/Kindle

Librarian's note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN: B00UCKHCTA.

"I wanted to go home."

"Moving to America wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the family next door. Because of my so-called guardian – and I used that term lightly – we were the latest family to take up residency in Thirteenth Street, and I was the sole target of the bitch over the fence."

"But, for me, life was about to get a lot worse."

"Noah Messina, Ellie's step-brother, had decided to join her torment-the-new-girl-until-she-cracks mission."

"There had been a fight in their driveway last weekend – between Noah and some other tattooed douchebag – that had progressed into our yard, resulting in the windshield of my car being smashed when Noah pummeled his opponent through it.

Thinking back now I had to admit that I sort of overreacted when I stalked outside in nothing but a Coldplay t-shirt and a black thong and tossed an entire can of white gloss paint over the hood of Noah's black Lexus in retaliation. I guess it had felt damn good to fight back instead of letting them walk all over me…"

"Destroying Noah's car with paint was like waving a red rag in front of a bull.

He lost it.
Right there in my driveway, with his t-shirt ripped from his body and blood dripping from his eyebrow, Noah Messina had thrown the biggest man-tantrum I'd ever seen before declaring war on me..."

"I was going to lose my shit over the girl-next-door."

"God, three months of having her live next door to me and I still felt like slamming my head into the garden wall – now worse than ever since she had challenged me."

"The defiance in her eyes as she stared at me down before bending over the hood of my baby and emptying the can of paint was something that struck a chord inside of me. I'd never been so angry or turned on in my life."

"Pure rage had flooded my veins, driven on even further when Teagan taunted me with her potty mouth and yeah, I'd kind of lost it with her. Problem was I had an even uglier temper, and Friday night Teagan Connolly ignited it like no one had before.
When she slapped me and pressed her tight little body against mine, taunting me with that sharp tongue of hers, I'd never been so close to putting my hands on a woman in my life.
Except instead of hurting her, I wanted to toss her sexy little ass on the hood of my car and take her right there, not caring who saw us. The urge to be inside her was like nothing I'd ever felt in my life..."

Warning: Due to its explicit content Treacherous is recommended for readers of eighteen years or above."
Teagan Connoly has moved to America with her uncle Max after the death of her mother.  Originally from Ireland Teagan has a lot to learn about the treacherous world around her and the boy next door (Noah).

Noah Messina is a survivor and a fighter. He is all kinds of bad boy but not by choice. Noah was dealt a bad hand with a schizophrenic, drug addicted mother (Kelsie). His father has been murdered and now he is stuck with the Dennis family. George Dennis married his mother and is straight from HELL with his daughter Ellie close on his heels. George has Noah by the balls (sort of speak) HE OWNS HIM. Noah is in a NO WAY out situation and must literally fight to survive and fight to protect the people he loves.

Teagan moves in next door to the Dennis family and Ellie hates her immediately since Teagan has caught Noah’s attention. Ellie makes Teagan’s life hell and Noah and Teagan fight constantly. I’m not even sure why Teagan is always fighting with Noah. Teagan takes Ellie’s actions of abuse out on Noah. Noah just tries to deal as best he can. He has more crap to worry about than the girl next door.

The Carter family lives across the street. Kyle and Lee and their kids Hope (Teagan’s bff), Logan (Low),  Cameron, and Colton. The Carter family is very nice to both Teagan and Noah. Logan and Hope are a big piece of the book but the others not so much.

To be honest the story was not edited well. There were a ton of grammatical errors and when the heading was the charter speaking sometimes those were not correct. Some of the characters were incorrect when mentioned in the body of the story and it was a little hard to follow because of these errors. Also a lot of character names were changed or nicknamed such as Logan is Low but was hard to follow since both names were used throughout the story. There was a scene at the ring of fire where a character was mentioned for the 1st time we have no idea who he is but that is the only time he is mentioned I actually think it was supposed to be Logan but they changed the name and missed some of them. I am hoping that the rest of the series is a bit better with the editing. I snagged Book #1 and #2 as freebies so nothing really lost. I did like the story but I feel more editing is really needed and a little more backstory to understand how all the characters are related or their relationship more defined.

The main story between Noah and Teagan was better once they stopped fighting with each other. Noah's character needed to be honest with Teagan and Teagan needed to stop being so bitchy and crazy. I would like to know more about Jordan and Hope's relationship and book #1.5 Always is supposed to tell us more. And I feel there is something weird with Jordan's dad or Uncle I can't even remember who he is to be honest but there is something strange there.

Rating: 1 ½ stars because of too many errors
