Storm’s younger cousin.
Vandal’s little brother.
You’ve met him in the background.
The sweet one.
The nice one.
The one they can all rely on.
The good one.
He’s a tattoo artist. He plays metal and classical music - on the violin.
He’s got a body built for sin.
He’s 24.
In comes Ivy. She’s a 36 year old single mom who hasn’t dated in 18 years.
All she wanted was a tattoo.
She got a helluva lot more :)
Being good has never been so bad.

*********************************
Ivy is 37 HR Manager with 2 kids (Macy 18 and Tommy 7) she has been married for 18 years.

Lukas is a 24 years old tattoo artist with a heart of gold. He can play the violin beautifully and likes antiques. He has abandonment issues and his past is not super pretty.

Ivy decides its time to do things that she always wanted to do but her cheating husband would not let her. She goes and gets a tattoo. Meeting Lukas changed her and everyone's life. He is a beautiful force. He is loyal, loving, brilliant, talented and treats her like a princess.

Lukas & Ivy upon meeting were instantly attracted to one another. Ivy has a huge problem with the age factor. But after spending some time with Lukas, she understands that he is not your average 24 year old he is a man and has been very responsible and reliable most of his life.

Ivy's EX-husband is not happy that she has gotten the attention of a younger man and sets out to destroy the couple. I mean why is she allowed to be happy without him, right (such an ass).

After some convincing on Lukas part to give him a chance to prove himself the couple faces a huge obstacle. With some time to think over the incident they figure out how to move forward. Lukas has a huge favor to ask of Ivy and it will mean their future will happen together or they will have to part ways.

I like the partnership of Ivy and Lukas and thought they fit well together. There age was not a factor for me in this story. They were a great couple and made since. Macy is a little brat but you still like her in the end.

Book Review: Vandal by Carian Cole

Vandal
Ashes and Embers - Book #2

** Please note - this book was re-edited in March of 2016 and the ending was given more depth and clarification. Thank you!

She takes my breath away; she is so beautifully damaged.
Yes I had broken her, ravished her life, destroyed her happiness. I brought her to ultimate despair. I was responsible for all the pain and suffering that now brought her to her knees in front of me.

Broken.
Hopeless.
Reckless in her agony.

She is a mirror of my own tortured soul.

But what I took away I can give back.
In ways she cannot even begin to imagine.

She is everything right in all my wrongs.

She loves me. She needs me.

She has no idea I’m the one who wrecked her life.

** Vandal is a dark romance with light BDSM. He is emotionally damaged and manipulative, but still wants love. This book deals with death, grief, deception, substance abuse, depression, and graphic sex. If this is not your thing, you can skip this book and move onto the next in the series and you will not be lost. Vandal is not the sweetheart that the other guys in Ashes & Embers are - but even the dark and damaged deserve to be loved, right? **

*******************************
Vandal & Tabitha

Tabitha’s husband was killed in a horrible car accident. Vandal lost his friend and child in the same accident. An accident that he caused by falling asleep.

Now Vandal sees Tabitha as sad and wants to help her find the happiness he sees she had before the accident happened. Vandal asks Tabi to go with him a perfect stranger to a random house. She has nothing to lose so she goes. A bit on the suicidal side she figures he might kill her and leave her body somewhere. She does not care at this point, there is no reason to live without her husband.

Vandal knows who Tabi is but does not reveal who he is. The secret is kept while they basically fall for each other.

Tabi has a secret that is revealed at the end of the book and I won’t SPOIL it but I did not like that Tabi’s secret was never revealed.

I found the relationship very one sided. I feel that Vandal’s character needs Tabi a lot more than Tabi needs Vandal. The little bit of Dom/Sub was touched on but not really explored. Vandal needs control and Tabi wants to let go and not worry about anything. This relationship works because of that.

When Vandal’s identity is revealed to Tabi she has to find the strength to figure out how important Vandal is to her. Tabi needs to see her husband’s death as sad as it was as a new beginning for her life. A life with Vandal.

The calm before the storm… I lived in the quiet stillness. I felt the wind rustle, warning me, telling me to get out of its path. But I didn’t. I never stood a chance. A series of weather and road mishaps leaves me trapped in the middle of a blizzard with a complete stranger. In the back of a pickup truck. For forty-eight freakin’ hours. A stranger with long hair, tattoos, and rippling with muscle. A stranger with an insanely sexy voice and a wicked smile that turned my insides to jelly. A stranger who held me in his arms, calmed me, and then set a fire in me that I couldn’t put out. Storm lives up to his name. Beautiful. Dangerously inviting. Tumultuous. Dark. A clash of hot and cold. He’s used to getting everything he wants. And now he wants me. Some people chase storms for the beautiful thrill. What happens when the storm chases you?

**********************************
Evelyn (Evie) suffers from panic attacks and depression. She does not stray to far from home and likes her everyday routine. Evie is bad with directions and her boyfriend gives her a GPS to get her to her business meeting. Well the GPS is a cheap piece of crap and Evie gets lost in the middle of a snow storm and crashes her car.

Storm to the rescue. A dark and beautiful stranger sees Evelyn crash and tries to get her to go with him and his huge white wolf like dog to his cabin a couple miles up the road. Evelyn is terrified and thinks this man is a psychopath and he is going to rape and murder her. She realizes she has no choice but to go with this stranger or she will freeze to death.

As they set off for the cabin Storm's truck crashes as well and now they are stuck in the middle of a snowstorm in the back of a truck. Good thing he has groceries with him.

For 2 days they are stuck in the truck and then get help and find their way to Storm's cabin. Storm finds out about Michael, Evelyn's boyfriend of 12 years and her panic and anxiety issues. Storm and Evie form a great friendship from their accident and Storm tells Evie that he wants to be with her and she needs to get rid of Michael.

Evie starts to question her feelings for Michael since Storm has awakened something inside of her that she has never felt before. Michael has never made her feel the way Storm does and they have not even kissed. Evie starts to see Storm as a NEW BEGINNING and a scary LEAP OF FAITH. She likes comfortable and not change. Leaving Michael for the unknown is hard for Evie.

Evie talks to Michael and realizes there are things that he has kept from her for years. And she was naive and trusting for staying with him.

***SPOILER ALERT***
Evie finds her independence and starts a new. Job, apartment, boyfriend all of it. Out with the OLD boring life in with the NEW adventurous one.

The story was good and I love the interaction of Storm and Evie. I like how they annoy each other and really like that they annoy each other at the same time. Storm is attracted to Evie because she has no idea she is stranded with the lead guitarist from Ashes & Embers. Evie likes Storm for himself, not the money, not the fame, not even the music. Storm finds this refreshing and amusing. Evie's character felt very sheltered to me. Micheal really kind of protecting her from the outside world even protecting her from himself really. I like that Storm's character was ok with her being awkward and insecure. I like how all he wanted to do was take care of her but also offer her a look into the outside world.

Toren & Kenzi

Tor & Kenzi have been together since Kenzi was born. Toren was 15 and fell in love with the little girl. Toren helped his best friend Ash and his wife Ember help raise little Kenzi. Kenzi adores Tor and loves him so much. Tor has never felt this unconditional love before. Kenzi helps calm him and he loves spending time with her.

As Kenzi gets older Toren and Kenzi relationship goes from Surrogate Uncle to and beautiful and trusting friendship. Kenzi trusts Tor and feels very safe with him. Tor always makes her feels special and adored. As Kenzi approaches 18 Toren starts seeing Kenzi as more of a woman and less of that little girl he helped raise. Toren tries to ignore these foreign emotions and keep the relationship the way it is. But little does he know Kenzi is starting to have the same feelings towards Toren. Kenzi does not try to really fight these feelings she tells Toren how she feels and Tor tells her it is just a crush and means nothing. Going on with the relationship as is the feelings and emotions grow stranger for both Tor and Kenzi. Toren feeling like a pervert and sick over his new feelings for a girl he once read bedtime stories too he pushes Kenzi away. Kenzi understands the reason why and tries to forget the intense feelings. She know her father will never understand and she could never choose between the two men she loves most in this world.

Toren unable to fight the love and attraction to Kenzi any longer gives into the temptation. Kenzi makes it hard to resist when she has decided Toren is what she wants and she won’t stop until she gets him. They will be judged by friends and family but there concern is with Ash finding out and how and when to tell him is an issue.

Of course Ash finds out and it is a disaster. Ash feels betrayed, sick to his stomach of knowing Toren could have been doing bad things to his little girl, and Ash feels like Toren took advantage of Kenzi’s love for him. Kenzi assures her father that Toren and her feelings and friendship where exactly that until she turned 18 nothing of a romantic nature ever happened between the 2 consenting adults.

In time Ash will have to learn to forgive or just accept this relationship if he wants his little girl in his life. Toren will have to be patient as well because until Ash can deal with this and get past it, neither man will be able to have Kenzi in their lives.

Review: I am a little torn on this one. I love the friendship that Toren and Kenzi have. It is beautiful and sweet. Of course it makes since that it would become so much more. And I love that Kenzi always gets to see Toren’s sweet, soft and playful side, But my problem is not the 15 year age difference it is the same issue that Toren’s character had. The fact that he helped raise this little girl as his niece and he has mixed emotions with the attraction to her now as an adult. I can see that having major issues with a person. I think there relationship makes since because of the connection you feel from the 2 characters. But it is a little hard to wrap your head around. For that reason I feel like it was not 100% fulfilling with the story.

Story was good. Relationship between the main characters was beautiful and the writing was flawless. I found no errors (That Is rare in our digital society).

I have been having some issues with hair loss and my hair has become thinner since I turned 40. I also had gastric surgery and my hair has deterated from that point. I have done a lot of things to get it healthy again but it was super frizzy and I never used heat or a lot of crazy products on my hair.

My only alternative was to do a Keratin treatment to help control the frizz and get my hair healthy again. I went back to my hairdresser for a trim about 2 month after the Keratin treatment and she said keep doing what I am doing because there is new hair growth and my hair is diffently thicker not a lot but some is better than nothing.

I started using this product right after my keratin treatment. I only use it when I wet my hair either shampooing or just wet it for conditioning only. (I did not know washing everyday was bad, now I know after getting a little HAIR lesson from my awesome hairdresser.)

If I have any flyaways this diffently helps smooth them and get them under control. And before you say the hairdresser would not know because she sees a million people. I have been going to her for over 25 years and we are good friends as well. She has a very personal relationship with some of her more regular customers and is so wonderful to work with.

I can say I do feel a difference in the thckness and I see new growth as well. I will continue to use this even after I am done with the Keratin treatments to help keep my hair healthy. I think it is worth the investment to see how it works for you. I have used it for about 2 months and just now got my 2nd bottle. I think 1 bottle a month is realistic as you will probably use more often but you need only 3 to 5 drops per application so it goes a long way depending on the length of your hair.

Before Keratin you can see how frizzy it is.

After you can see more how thin it is but no more frizzy.

This product helps me keep it smooth and hopefully when the Keratin wears out I can get the curls back with no frizz. I will continue to use this product to help tame my frizz.

It is all natural and filled with essential oils and is plant based. Also it is certified organic and color safe.

Summer and Ford Book 1:

Kindle/Amazon | Goodreads

When 22-year-old Summer Stafford’s parents split halfway through her senior year at college, Summer’s world is rocked. Everything she thought she knew—heck, everything she thought she wanted for her own life—feels like a lie. The truth is love is a risk. And the true kind, the kind that lasts, might even be a fairy tale.

Reeling from the divorce, Summer derails her own future by breaking up with her parent-approved boyfriend and giving up her lifelong plans for a big-city career. She moves back home, business degree in hand. Dad needs her to fill the gaps her mother left behind; Summer needs to find who she is outside of the cookie-cutter life that failed so miserably for her parents.

Ford O’Neal’s future involves one person: himself. He doesn’t have a permanent address and he definitely doesn’t commit. To a place or a person. Raised by hippies, he plans just far enough ahead to secure his next stop, this one landing him at a work-study program at Heritage Plantation where he can grow his own herbal and medicinal creations.

Summer is gorgeous and smart and fun to be with, the perfect way to pass five months. It won’t be love—Ford’s got too many things to accomplish, too many places to go, before he settles down. Yet Summer pulls him in, challenging him to rethink his own philosophy.

When Ford’s five months are up, each of them must decide if love is really worth the risk.

Summer is home after graduating college. Her plans for her future did not include coming back home and working for the family business, but plans change. After Summer finds out that her parents are getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage nothing makes any sense to her. Especially not anything to do with love. Summer breaks up with her college boyfriend and heads back home to take over her mother’s old job of bookkeeper for the family farm.

Summer meets Ford and really wants to run from the feelings he stirs up inside her.  Casey (Summer’s non related brother/best friend) tries to help Ford get the girl. The first kiss was amazing and the first date was something neither will forget. The question is will it just be something to cross off the list or is Summer in this for the long haul? Will Ford be ok with it having more meaning than a summer fling.

Ford is falling hard and fast for the Summer. But he still plans on this just being a FOR FUN summer thing. Ford tells Summer that she means more to him than a summer fling. Summer can't believe that when Ford still plans on leaving the farm in a couple of months and leaving her and their relationship behind. Summer breaks down and asks Ford to stay and not go to his next destination but Ford is determined to live his dream. The problem is now his dream might just be Summer.

Things seem to work out ok in the end. Summer and Ford find a way to work things out and we get our HEA.

Book Review: Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs

Silence Fallen
(Mercy Thompson - Book #10)
by Patricia Briggs
Hardcover, 365 Pages
ISBN-10: 042581272
Source: Papercopy - Own

Goodreads | Amazon Hardcopy | Amazon Kindle

Attacked and abducted in her home territory, Mercy finds herself in the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world, taken as a weapon to use against alpha werewolf Adam and the ruler of the Tri-Cities vampires. In coyote form, Mercy escapes—only to find herself without money, without clothing, and alone in the heart of Europe...

Unable to contact Adam and the rest of the pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, and she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy must be her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves, and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise...

*************************************************************************************
Mercy Mercy Mercy ..... What did you get yourself into now?

A simple trip to the corner store for chocolate chips, seems easy right. Not for Mercy. Trouble finds this little coyote shifter wherever she goes.
he is kidnapped by a very powerful vampire, why is the question basically because he can. Trying to prove that Adam cannot protect the Tri-Cities. To me this was a lame plot and I absolutely love this series. Putting the plot aside. Mercy finds herself alone, her magic blocked by witchcraft, and her mate and pack bonds severed. She is naked and scared. But Mercy always finds a way.

She escapes for the Vampire only to be on a hunt to find allies, oh yeah and she is in Europe. What the heck Europe that is a long way from home little coyote.

She is in coyote form since a naked woman might draw attention running down the streets of Prague. With no money, no bonds, no clothes, and no way to communicate Mercy must steal to survive.

She finds herself confronting and seeking sanctuary from the scary Alpha Wolf who has a problem with Bran (sort-a kind-a Mercy's sorta step-dad). Prague is filled with Ghosts and this actually helps Mercy get the sanctuary she seeks. Before she can reach her destination and safehouse her and her werewolf bodyguards are attacked by another Vampire Seethe.

Adam is on the way to rescue his wife and confront the Lord of Night and the one responsible for Mercy's disappearance. Kidnapped a second time by the other Vampire Seethe she is trapped. No way out so she can only do what she must to survive and find her way back to Adam.

She calls upon the dead and reincarnates a GOLEM. It is wrong in so many ways from asking the dead for help to reincarnating the Golem that can and will destroy the world if given the chance. But Mercy is out of options.

Again we see Adam being a bad-ass to a point but in this story he is more political and subdued. I like it when he just is sweet with Mercy and rips everyone else to shreds to be honest. This story had some action but I did find myself wanting more and I did have a little trouble following along. Again that entire COYOTE (dad) thing always throws me off. There is a little TWIST at the very end and we see that Bran does still care and love Mercy even though he abandoned her twice.

That little coyote gets into so much trouble. Good thing she is always pretty good at getting out of it. And it helps to be married to an Alpha Werewolf who is a badass.

Book Review: Broken Blood by heather Hildenbrand

Broken Blood
(Dirty Blood - Book $5)
by Heather Hildenbrand
Kindle Edition, 367 Pages
ASIN: B00UE3NE2Y
Source: Ebook - Own

Goodreads | Kindle/Amazon

I thought watching my Werewolf boyfriend get arrested for murder was the worst experience of my life. But then I was knocked out and dragged off to a cell of my own by the very people who were supposed to protect me from danger.

I thought being held prisoner in solitary confinement for weeks on end was the worst experience of my life. But then a visitor came, and I realized I’d been wrong all along. There are worse things than torture and death. Much worse.

He wants my blood. More than that, he wants to get into my head. To use my bond to control his army, to wipe the world clean of anything with dirty blood. I can’t let that happen, but if I don’t he’ll kill every single person I’ve ever cared about — beginning with my Werewolf pack.

The prophecy said I would have to make an impossible choice, but I must be doing this wrong — so far every choice I’ve made has only led to more pain and danger and death. Hunters are pitted against Werewolves and I’m alone in my war against Gordon Steppe. I can’t fight him off anymore; all I can do is try to keep him out of the important places. And I’m failing at even that.

I thought the demons were out there, clearly marked and clinging to the shadows. But they’re not. The monsters are within the ranks of those sworn to protect. The enemy is among us.
*********************************************************
We left off in book 4 where Gordon Steppe wants Tara for questioning and the hybrids are scrambling for survival.

Everyone with fur or associated with anyone with FUR is on the run from CHAS. They want to kill anyone not on their side.

Tara gets questioned (that’s what we are going to call it). Tara is imprisoned and Steppe wants her ALPHA power. Most of the hybrids have been killed. Her friends are MIA. Tara is unsure how to get out of this mess.

Alex is awake but Tara is not sure what is going on or even what day it is.

Last Tara knew Wes was being arrested and people were being harmed.

Gordon want Tara to bond with him so he can control his army. He wants to eradicate all werewolves and hybrids “Dirty Bloods”. Tara knows the prophecy said she has to make a choice but is this the choice to make. Letting Gordon in her head will be the hardest thing she has ever done. Tara is not sure she can keep him out of her thoughts and still protect her loved ones.

CHAS is dirty and they have to be stopped the question is how do you stop a POWERFUL man like Gordon Steppe when you and everyone you love has been made out to look like the bad guys. How do you show the world the truth when there is no proof? How to you overthrow a man who controls and makes the rules? Tara will have to figure this out in order to bet Gordon Steppe and protect her family, friends and the world from Steppe’s power.

This is a good ending to the series. When you finish the book you feel an accomplishment and closer.

***SPOIL ALERT***

Tara escapes and teams up with her friends and family. They take Gordon out of power and a secret is uncovered about Cord that will change the destiny, power, and leadership of CHAS. The leaders of The Cause will be passed on to the younger generation and Tara’s CHOICE is made. A peace treaty is offered to any and all how wish to join regardless of werewolf, hunter or hybrid. Everyone has a choice and it is not forced.
